Social Integration Support

Offering support to create a harmonious family existence based in relationships of connection. Creating opportunities for growth in social emotional development. Support for children to better build conversation skills, understanding and awareness of perspectives, to learn about the unwritten social rules we live by and how to recognize them in order to be successful, as well, to provide support to all family members with insight and practical strategies that can be used for years to come. One-to-one sessions, in-home or in the community, for the preschool and elementary years to provide deeper learning about the social rules that are a part of our society which are often hidden, as well, expected and unexpected behaviours of each situation.

Observations and Assessments

Offering perspective from a strictly observational platform. It is helpful to learn, to observe and record behavior in a descriptive and objective manner rather than according to one's own feelings about the behavior. Information from observation can help identify the source of issues that may not be apparent at first such as the environment or other children/adults he/she is coming in contact with. Observations help us gain understanding of purposes, feelings, and behaviour. Observations can help you make adjustments to the environment to improve a child’s behavior and facilitate learning. Regular observation and careful analysis of a child’s behavior and personality traits can also help you build a stronger relationship with each child and connect with them in a more meaningful way.

Home Design Support

Offering to collaborate with you to create a warm, inviting, inspiring home environment that will enrich your child's family connection and growth. Help your child become connected with your space. Simplify your whole house, child's space, and/or outdoor space to encourage a feeling of peacefulness where items are meaningful and there is a sense of purpose. Set the stage for fostering freedom, discipline, structure and order with a well-prepared home environment that will facilitate maximum independence and learning. A prepared environment stresses order, beauty and simplicity. A calm and peaceful setting is valued. There is a minimum of items and clutter. Everything has a place and it is clear how to restore the environment to order. Items in the environment should have a deliberate purpose, help to foster independence in the child, and be visually appealing to children.

“The secret of parenting is not in what a parent does but rather who the parent is to a child. When a child seeks contact and closeness with us, we become empowered as a nurturer, a comforter, a guide, a model, a teacher or a coach.”

Equine Facilitated Learning

Offering support through Equine Facilitated Learning allows individuals to apply new insights to grow and change more effectively. This is an opportunity for children, horses and hearts to come together to bring emotional, mental, physical and social wellness. Horses are among the best teachers and guides for personal growth and development. Being sensitive to the environment for their survival, horses respond to both positive and negative changes in posture, stance and breathing with other animals and people. Working with horses provides opportunities for fostering motivation and empowerment; building trust; improving problem solving; and thinking creatively.

This process allows for communication skills to develop verbally, non-verbally and listening modes. Experiencing learning through horses supports the growth of empathy, compassion, trust, respect and honesty building self-awareness and self-esteem. Kindred Equine may or may not include riding lessons or activities requiring mounting of a horse. Experiential activities are utilized to facilitate teamwork, problem-solving, communication skills, and more without mounting a horse. Equine Facilitated Learning focuses on interaction with the horse as part of the facilitation team. The majority of activities are done on the ground with no riding is involved. Experience with horses is not required to benefit from the healing power of horses.
